An Architect’s Eye: Expressing Place, Space and Light

  • Kenyon House 612 W. Main St. Bozeman United States (map)

Closing Reception for Katherine L Wright’s work, “An Architect’s Eye: Expressing place, space and light.” Katherine’s works in watercolor and sketch span her career as an architect and illustrator through her studies of light and it’s relationship to the landscape and the built environment.

I travel.

I observe.

I paint “en Plein Air.

And always, I seek to understand my surroundings through my art.

Placecontains the story about who we are, the background that envelopes us.

Space is the soul of our memories & environment.

Light is the framework of our perception.

Having lived under the steely skies of the Salish Sea to the brilliant Italian Adriatic coast, from tree-filled Pacific Northwest forests to the open skies of Southwest Montana, my goal is to capture the spirit of place.

Architectural illustration has been a constant thread in my life, from being a licensed Architecture, to living in Southern Italy for 8 years, to teaching at the Gallatin College, Interior Design Department (Montana State University), to just plain ol’ painting. Each place has left it’s influence on what happens next.
